To guide renal patients for proper treatment and disease management. Nephrologist Dr. Pratik Das (DM, DNB, MD) visits the Centre twice every month and is available for consultation to patients of the Centre and also outdoor patients
To expand the facilities and cater to a larger cross section of patients from the region. We are totally committed to the cause and despite the losses incurred in the initial phase we have installed four new machines for the cause of the needy patients. We also have two standby machines. |

ASSISTANCE WE SEEK
To be able to live upto our commitments we need financial support to acquire five more new dialysis machines.
Make and model of the dialysis machines: Fresenius Haemodialysis Machines 4008 Series Computerized
These machines are manufactured by Fresenius Medical Care of Germany and we have to purchase these from their authorized dealers in Kolkata at a price of: INR 6,34,400 per machine (inclusive of 4% VAT) Total cost of 5 machines: INR 31,72,000.00 or
Euro 48,800.00 approx. (as per exchange rate in May 2008)
The five additional machines will enable the Centre to provide additional 300 dialysis per month, for which there is demand in the area and consequent economies of scale may help further reduction in price of dialysis |

BENEFITS TO PATIENTS
Earlier patients from these areas had to travel all the way to proper Kolkata for dialysis.
Travel time at least five hours on an average
Travel cost at least Rs. 600 a day (taxi fare)
For them travel time to MMFDC is maximum one hour
Cost of travel to MMFDC is maximum Rs.75/- a day
They are saving on both travel time and cost
That is effective cost of dialysis for them at MMFDC is actually less than half of what they were paying earlier and that too without compromising on quality
Moreover in view of heavy bookings at dialysis centers in Kolkata, they were often allotted late night time slots, sometimes at 2 or 3 a.m. at night
MMFDC’s last slot is 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and therefore the patients can comfortably be back home in time for their dinner and rest.
They also have the facility of consulting the visiting Nephrologist who visits the Centre twice a month. For this they do not have to travel to Kolkata anymore. Even other patients in the region benefit from the visit of the Nephrologist. |
